Textured Firefly

I’m doing the Visual Effects on another student film called “Bring on the Wonder”. I managed to find time to texture this firefly model today while at work (nobody buys coffee at the SCAD Student Center where I work). Ibtisam Ahmed modeled the little guy a few months ago, and I used mostly projections to texture. Rendered in Mental Ray, with Linear Workflow, all done in under three hours.

it is gorgeous. i really can’t begin to appreciate how much work goes into creating it. very pretty, so you and ibtisam chose the colors for it? i like the red/orange spot.

Nay, Ibtisam modeled the geometry and I just added the colors and textures. Mostly based off this picture: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/52/Photuris_lucicrescens.jpg
